On June 1, 2024, Education Watch Group in collaboration with Consortium Nepal and Nepal SDG forum conducted the consultation program on SDG Goal No.4 at Hotel Crystal Pashupati in Gaushala, Kathmandu. The program was conducted to evaluate progress, identify challenges, and gather recommendations for achieving inclusive and equitable quality education in Nepal.
The event received support from organizations such as Aasaman Nepal, Child Nepal, CWISH, Good Weave Foundation, JCYCN, KANALLAN, and Loo Niva. Among the 29 participants were representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society, and parents.
During the consultation, Mr. Mani Ram Acharya moderated the proceedings, warmly welcoming and introducing all participants. Mr. Sant Ram Dangol emphasized the collective responsibility in achieving SDG 4, highlighting the critical role of stakeholder consultations in shaping effective education policies and strategies. Dr. Rupa Munakarmi provided an overview of Nepal's progress toward SDG 4, discussing the current education situation, achievements, and challenges, and suggested future strategies to meet the goal by 2030. Peer consultation further highlighted concerns related to education.
This collaborative effort underscores the importance of quality education and its impact on Nepal's sustainable development.
Mr. Narendra Dangol thanked all participants for their active engagement and insightful contributions to the program. He reiterated the importance of collaborative efforts and continuous dialogue in achieving the targets of SDG 4. He assured that the feedback and recommendations gathered during the consultation would be instrumental in shaping Nepal’s Voluntary National Review and guiding future actions to ensure quality education for all.
