“Social Appraisal 2025” was conducted on 11th & 12th December 2025 by Loo Niva Child Concern Group and Patan CBR in Konjyosom and Mahankal Rural Municipalities, marking a major milestone for the Safeguarding Future; Improved Right to Education and Protection of Vulnerable Children in Nepal (REAP) 2025-2028 project. Designed to promote transparency and accountability, the appraisal assessed the effectiveness and impact of REAP initiatives benefiting children, including those with disabilities.
Key Highlights:
- Scale: Nearly 1,500 beneficiaries engaged across 43 schools, including parents, teachers, community leaders, and government officials.
- Achievements: The project has established model disability-friendly schools, supported inclusive education plans, strengthened child clubs, and expanded psychosocial, physiotherapy, and emergency support for high-risk and disabled children.
- Community Voices: Stakeholders praised the progress while highlighting the need for improved data and referral systems for children with disabilities, enhanced coordination, parent education, and technology-enabled learning.
- Feedback: Calls were made for stronger tracking and monitoring, context-appropriate programming, and investment in youth leadership and inclusive infrastructure.
Insights from the social appraisal are helpful to guide future actions, enabling Loo Niva and partners to continue building safe, inclusive, and high-quality educational environments in Konjyosom and Mahankal. The event underscored the value of social audits in fostering accountability, community trust, and evidence-based learning for lasting impact.
