Youth volunteers of Loo Niva conducted 40 awareness classes on child marriage, Dalit rights, inclusive education, girls' rights, and abuse at schools of Konjyosom and Mahankal rural municipalities of south Lalitpur. All the activities were conducted in the month of May and June 2023. The volunteers effectively communicated the consequences and legal implications of child marriage, emphasizing the importance of education and empowerment for young girls. Recognizing the importance of addressing abuse and adolescent issues, our volunteers conducted workshops on topics such as sexual abuse, mental health, and reproductive health. The volunteers also facilitated counseling services and established referral networks to support survivors of abuse and ensure they receive appropriate assistance.
The awareness classes covered 772 students (out of which 15 were CwDS, 113 were Dalit, and 424 were girls) from Mahankal and Konjyosom rural municipalities. Altogether 796 outreaches were made through the volunteer classes also including children, teachers, parents with disabilities, community members, etc.
