In a concerted effort to tackle urgent issues concerning child protection issues, the Local Advocacy and Monitoring Committee (LAMC) joined with the Women, Children, and Senior Citizen section of Konjyosom rural municipality. This collaborative initiative, supported by the Loo Niva under the project- Enhancing the Right to Education of the Most Vulnerable Children (PREP) took the form of a Social Dialogue held on December 3, 2023.
The event, facilitated by Mr. Madhu Dawadi, delved into critical matters affecting child protection in Konjyosom Rural Municipality. Key issues discussed included child marriage, Children with Disability (CWDS), issues related to abandoned children, and school dropouts. Mr. Dawadi emphasized the significance of aligning actions with existing legal provisions and drew attention to the importance of adhering to established laws.
Participants actively engaged in discussions, expressing concerns about the support for Children with Disability, the need for special protection measures for children, and challenges faced by abandoned children. The Rural Municipality Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson asserted their commitment to addressing the identified issues, underscoring the pivotal role of local authorities in child protection efforts.
